Is the website data you collect at risk of being intercepted by scammers? Do you know if you’re securing prospective customer information such as emails, user names, passwords and credit card details?
As of July 2018, a big change has happened with Google’s Chrome version 68. Google’s browser is now marking all websites with either a Secure or Non-Secure label.
You might ask, well how important is Google’s browser really? Google’s just happens to be the most widely used browser in the world, holding over a 65% usage share.
So, here’s how the labeling for Not Secure - HTTP and Secure - HTTPS is showing up on the majority of websites searched with Google Chrome.
But what exactly does this mean?
When your website is labelled as https it means that there is a secure socket layer (SSL certificate) providing encryption protection during the online transfer of sensitive information.
When a prospective customer offers up information to a https site, they know with confidence that their data is encrypted and secure while in transit.
Https websites tell customers that you business can be trusted and your data is protected against being intercepted in transit. And by the way Google also provides a slight ranking boost to websites using https.
At Facetime Presentations, we’re developing websites on a relatively new mobile first platform called Webflow. Webflow is a cloud based platform that comes with FREE SSL security. We make the migration from http to https EASY so you’re not overwhelmed with installing SSL certificates.
Because technology changes at a frenetic rate, it maybe the right time to consider a cost-efficient re-design of your site for security, improved search and mobile design.
Webflow sites are built for the modern internet and enable on-page editing, fast mobile speeds, Free SSL and no bloated add-on fees for templates, plugins or maintenance updates.
With Webflow you can be rest assured that your site will not be vulnerable and hacked by scammers. Search engines will also give your https website extra points for its mobile friendly design and performance.
